On 30 September 2003, it was announced that Ledbury won
the small town category in the Britain in Bloom
competition.
The Ledbury Carnival was held on 25 August 2003,
August Bank Holiday. The theme is Country.
The Queen visited Ledbury on 11 July 2003. It was a part
of a tour of the country being Herefordshire on this day.
The 2003 Poetry Festival was held between 4-14 July 2003.
27 April 2003 saw the first English Festival in the town
as well as a launch for the 2003 Ledbury in Bloom
competition.
The Ledbury Carnival was held on August Bank Holiday. The
theme is Royal Pageant.
The judges of the Britain in Bloom 2002 came to Ledbury
on 27 July 2002. It was announced that Ledbury won the
small town caterory.
The Queen's Jubilee Baton Relay for the Commonwealth
Games in Manchester in July/August 2002 went through
Ledbury on Wednesday 17 July 2002 at 16:26
(Layby on A449), 16:35 (Top Cross), 16:44
(Railway Station) on leg 42 on the route around the UK.
The 6th Annual Ledbury Poetry Festival was from Thursday
4 July 2002 to Sunday 14 July 2002. Big Celebrity to come
to Ledbury was Clive Anderson.
The Annual Mop Fair was in Ledbury on Monday 8 October
and Tuesday 9 October 2001
Ledbury won the Ledbury in Bloom 2001 (Regional Heats)
for the second year! Well Done!
Another successful Carnival in 2001, with one of the best
weather conditions possible.
The judges of the Britain in Bloom came to Ledbury on 27
July 2001. Lets hope that the Seven Stars fire doesn't
mess up the plans.
A local pub, the Seven Stars, was burnt down in a bad
fire in the early hours of Sunday Morning 22 July 2001.
Ledbury Poetry Festival was on 28 June and ends on 4 July
2001. Street party in the High Street was on Saturday 30
June 2001.
Snow fell overnight and Thursday 28 December 2000 saw a
white Ledbury. Pictures has
arrived!
There is no official switch on the Christmas Lights in
2000. The Homend lights came on, on Wednesday 29 November
2000 and the High Street Came on, on Thursday 30 November
2000.
The 2001 Carnival was planned to be moved to suit the
Ledbury in Bloom Competition. I personally don't like it.
Leave it on August Bank Holiday (it went ahead on August
Bank Holiday anyway!)
Ledbury Fair was in Ledbury on Monday 9 October and
Tuesday 10 October. Pictures has
arrived!
On 22 September 2000, Ledbury was announced the winner of
the Britain in Bloom small towns regional category
competition, after coming second for 4 years. We finally
beat Alcester who has been the winner for several years.
Also Ledbury was the overall region overall winner,
beating Solihull, Rugby and Evesham. Ledbury hopes to
enter the national competition in 2001.
Ledbury has hit the 350 target to get ADSL from
BT on Tuesday 14 October 2003
and the activation date was on 11 February 2004.
