The fifth Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place at Ahoy' Arena in  Rotterdam, Netherlands on Saturday 8 December 2007. The contest last just over 2 1/4 hours.

Kian-Lian Van Der Meij and Sipke Jan Bousema hosted this event.

During the interval, Katie Melua sang one of her songs and Chipz, a special written song for Eurovision. Also all the contestant sang together and sang "One World". The event was supported by Unicef where 100% profit of all phone voting goes to the Charity.

The singers must all be aged between 8 to 15 years old on the day of their national final. They must have written their song themselves with no professional help.

17 Countries took part. They are in performance order (drawn on 30 October 2007), Georgia, Belgium, Armenia, Cyprus, Portugal, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Netherlands, FYR Macedonia, Ukraine, Sweden, Malta, Greece, Lithuania, Belarus.

The winner was decided by televoting, as like the main Eurovision Song Contest. Again this year, the voting lasted through the contest and not tied into10 minutes after all the songs were heard.

One shock for the contest. Cyprus only gave 2 points to Greece!

The 2008 host will not be the winner of the Junior 2007 contest. The host for 2008 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held somewhere in Cyprus.

United Kingdom decided not to enter the 2007 contest for UK viewers had to watch the contest via the internet. They could not even watch it on sky as Spain did not enter either! It was the first time for me to watch it over the internet. The quality was excellent.
