The host were Oleksandr Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk and Timur Miroshnychenko. The venue was the Kyiv's International Exhibition, Kyiv, Ukraine.
On 13 April, Russia decided to withdrawn from the contest due to Yulia Samoylova being refused entry to Ukraine because she travelled to Crimea in 2015. There was a point that Russia was offered to send someone else or broadcast live by satellite. However the Russia's song is still on the official CD.

* France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom goes to the Final direct (Big 5 countries) as well as 2016 winner Ukraine.
